The RER B, an Invisible Thread, and the Gift of Time
Yesterday, I was on the RER B on my usual commute back from work.
I wasn't the excited passenger on her way to the airport, ready to fly off to an exotic island or retreat into the mountains to wait for a snowstorm. I was the tired passenger looking around, counting the minutes until my next connection, listening to the chorus of mixed languages floating through the train car.
I couldn't wait to reach the sanctuary of my home. But as I sat there, watching the stations pass, a single thought hit me:
I am tired because I have time.
I feel tired because I am still here, alive.
I care about financial stability because I am still here, alive.
I want to level up because I am still here, alive.
I carry deadlines, plans, and ambition because, hopefully, I will continue to have time.
We so often treat fatigue, financial goals, and time pressure as heavy burdens. But they aren't flaws. They are proof that we are bursting with life! They mean we are engaged, present, and actively carving our path.
Human life is held together by an invisible thread, one that is far more solid than the most reinforced steel building. Look at a spider's web, a cocoon, or a bird's nest. Looking from the outside, would you ever think they are strong enough to bear the weight, protect a life, or endure the storm?
Yet they do.
Our lives operate on that same quiet power. This thread carries on beyond our choice, until, one day, it doesn't.
But now, today, we are gifted, we are given, we are offered this most resilient and most solid thread. Seemingly invisible, it is the most powerful and life-sustaining thread. It sparks our emotions, fuels our ambition, and holds together the richness of our inner lives.
You are here. You have time.
What will you choose to do with it today?
A Question for Your Path Forward
Where in your daily routine are you treating your tiredness as a flaw, rather than proof that you are bursting with life?
How would your daily choices shift if you viewed today's busy momentum as part of the resilient thread holding your purpose together?
